If you don't know Tom Canavan, he is a long-time Joomla security expert, Tom's been a mainstay on the Joomla.org forums, dispensing free security advice to noobs and experts alike since well - I'll just say "way back." Tom raised more than eyebrows at the last Expo in Chicago and Denver, when his no-holds-barred approach toward lax security measures sobered up the crowd mighty quick. The dose of medicine was effective, and reviews were a healthy TWO THUMBS UP, as he not only clearly explained strong countermeasures, but laid out excellent proactive defense measures to keep Joomla sites more safe from hackers, as well as a regimented disaster recovery plan.I'm also happy to say Tom and I are co-hosting the CMS User Group on LinkedIn (Tom founded it earlier this year), so for all you B2B types like yours truly (moi) here's a link to the LinkedIn crowd. We're over 900 folks and growing, with a quality bunch of pro's. Be sure to follow Tom on Twitter too.

The unstoppable Tom Canavan has done it again. His book, Web Security With Joomla! is now out in the bookstores ($35.99 at Amazon.com - free shipping!*). It's his third book he's authored (one he co-authored). I put my order in last night at Amazon, along with a couple other folks from JoomlaChicago, and I know a couple guys who've already laid their hands on it, and say it's classic Tom, and it's great. My friend JB is reading it over the weekend.
