How to Evaluate and Select the Right CMS for Your Business

Session: How to Evaluate and Select the Right CMS for Your Business
 Instructor: Tony White
Track: CMS Business Track
Audience: Businesspeople and Content Creators

Ars Logica has just released the Compass Guide to Web Content Management.  In the process of evaluating CMS platforms, founder Tony White has developed a framework to help customers assess their content-management requirements and select suitable products.  In this session, Tony will go through a typical CMS selection project, which normally consists of seven phases:

  • Needs analysis
  • Creation of a master requirements document
  • Mapping requirements to potential solutions
  • Submission of requirements to vendors
  • Vendor response analysis
  • Recommendation of suitable solutions
  • Assessment of vendor demos

Session attendees will see up-close what these steps involve, how to go through each of them, how to create a vendor short list, and ultimately how to select the right CMS for their businesses.  Of course there will not be enough time in this session to critique individual CMS systems in depth, but attendees will leave knowing how the selection process should work.

Prerequisite: No prerequisite required. The CMS Business Track was created to provide relevant, timely and actionable insights for users seeking insights from a business perspective (processes, policies, business modeling, marketing, etc).
